The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education was established in the year 1969 with its headquarter at Shimla. HP Board HQ was shifted to Dharamshala in Kangra District in 1983. Himachal Pradesh Education Board prescribes syllabus and text books for school education in Himachal Pradesh. It conducts exam based on such courses for the 8th, 10th, Plus One and Plus Two classes and departmental exam like J.B.T., T.T.C and P.V.T.C. The Board was started with only 34 officials no it has become 438. The first exam was conducted in 1970 at 99 exam centres. The Board has set up 1650 Examination centres.
